General Information
The intention of this site is to explain the procedure international visiting scholars, professors, and lecturers are subject to before and during their stay in Freiburg.
The following information is of a general nature. Individual consultation with various departments may be necessary to clarify any specific questions you may have. For further information, please contact Ms. Kühnle at the International Office.
Visiting professors and lecturers are...
international researchers who are employed by the University of Freiburg for the duration of their stay and receive payment from the University of Freiburg. Ms. Kulse is in charge of affairs pertaining to human resources at the university.
Visting scholars are...
international scholars who are not employed by the University of Freiburg during their stay. Furthermore, visting scholars are not considered to be members of the university. Please direct any questions concerning your status as visting scholar to Ms. Elsner.
International visiting scholars are not automatically covered by health, pension, unemployment, or accident insurance, nor do they qualify for any other form of insurance from the university. We therefore recommend for international visting scholars to obtain, at the very least, liability insurance in case of an accident. We also strongly recommend obtaining private health insurance coverage. Addresses of insurance agencies in Freiburg are available from Ms. Kühnle or from the following internet site: http://www.gelbeseiten.de.
